These past few years I have been so busy that my social media use has dropped down to occasional silly reels and not much more.

I’ve been busy working with a fantastic programme to help artists, and I am immensely proud of it. I have also been continuing to study psychology, now at the masters level. Meanwhile, in the background, I was going through devastating heartbreak.

It’s safe to say - I can’t do it all. I deprioritised music and writing - my two favourite creative outlets - to focus on academic writing and learning.

What I know through life experience though, is that it is okay to put things down for a while. And no new skills are ever wasted. When I sat down to write this week, I realised that those thousands of words in academic essays have made me a better writer! I’ve also got a whole lot more knowledge to share. And I know that all this struggling will feed back in to future songs I will write someday too.

In the past two weeks, I have had some blissful reflection time. In a truly flow state moment, I whipped myself up a Substack and wrote my heart out.

This fantastic platform is designed to support writers and podcasters to actually make money out of their work. It is ad free and doesn’t have the prohibitive algorithms of other social media platforms. It feels hopeful and exciting and has reinvigorated me to share my words.

I humbly offer you my first piece of 2024. I hope it makes you smile.
